St. Louis drug case nets 27 years for leader, 16 years for lieutenant

A St. Louis man who oversaw a large drug trafficking network responsible for moving hundreds of pounds of fentanyl and methamphetamine into the region has been sentenced to federal prison.

U.S. District Judge Stephen R. Clark on Tuesday ordered 51-year-old Stephen Griffin Jr. to serve 27 years. The sentence included 25 years for the primary case filed in 2021 and an additional two years for violating supervised release tied to a 2015 heroin trafficking conviction.

Authorities indicted 20 individuals in the case. Griffin’s top associate, 22-year-old Troy Mills, was also sentenced Tuesday to 16 years for conspiracy to distribute meth and fentanyl, along with possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. Crystal Miller, 37, of Florissant, received a 20-year sentence in December 2023 for managing stash houses used by the operation.
