Longtime San Antonio restaurant completely nails massive combo platter

As we inch closer to September, I am craving cooler weather, Halloween decorations and warm, savory foods like menudo and fideo loco. But it’s still a tad bit too hot for me to dig into a warm bowl of soup, so what did I settle for? Pretty much everything else.

I don’t crave Mexican food often, but when I do, I search long and hard for a good spot (considering I’m picky). Luckily, I didn’t have to search far this time, as Carmelita’s Mexican Restaurant is located just down the street from me.

I discovered Carmelita’s, located at 2218 Broadway Street, San Antonio, Texas 78215, when I moved to 1800 Broadway Apartments two years ago. As we waited for our beverages, I snacked on the chips and salsa, which were delicious, and started searching the menu for something I was craving. The problem was I was craving EVERYTHING. Several of the meals had pictures next to them, so I was seeing enchiladas, tacos, chalupas, soups, breakfast plates, and so much more. One particular plate I came across caught my eyes — the Carmelita Plate. Why? Well, the plate literally had a little bit of everything…
