MVP Health Care hosting back-to-school giveaway at Albany barbershop

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An Albany barbershop is coming together with a local healthcare agency to offer free haircuts, manicures, and school supplies as part of a two-day back-to-school giveaway. The “Fresh Starts” back-to-school event hosted by MVP Health Care will give Albany students a boost of confidence before they head back to the classroom.

Being held at Love of the Craft Barbershop on Central Avenue, students can get a free basic haircut, basic manicure, and 200 backpacks filled with school supplies. The barbershop will be open for the giveaway on August 28 and 29 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Backpack contents

  • 24-pack of Crayola crayons
  • 12-pack of Crayola colored pencils
  • A glue stick
  • A spiral notebook
  • Pencils
  • An MVP water bottle
  • An MVP pencil sharpener
  • An MVP plastic pencil pouch

Everything is first-come, first-served while supplies last. A parent must be present with the student to participate. The giveaway event is part of MVP Health Care’s Shine On initiative, designed to celebrate students’ self-expression and uplift them so they feel prepared and proud.
