CANTON, N.C. (WLOS) — On Aug. 26, 1920, the 19th amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified, giving women the right to vote.
A day later, Canton’s Gertrude Logan was born, meaning today on Aug. 27, “Granny Gert,” as she is affectionately called by her family, is celebrating her 105th birthday. The family is planning to hold her birthday celebration from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Wells Event Center in Waynesville.
When asked her secret to living a long life, Logan said it is because of “her faith in God and her family.”…
