Restoring Asheville’s historic Municipal Golf Course

Asheville’s Municipal Golf Course is one step closer to getting back up to par.

The front nine holes sit on the Swannanoa River flood plain and were completely submerged by Hurricane Helene.

Only three bunkers and eight greens and fairways on the back nine survived the floodwaters. Most of the course’s golf cart paths were washed away, as was the bathroom house. The course irrigation system and portions of stormwater piping, as well as all 18 tee box complexes, also suffered damage. Numerous trees came down…
