Cape Coral sees 28% drop in crime in first half of 2025

CAPE CORAL, Florida — The Cape Coral Police Department has reported a significant 28% reduction in overall crime during the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year. This achievement highlights the dedication of the department’s officers and the community’s support.

Between January 1 and June 30, 2025, Cape Coral experienced declines in nearly every major crime category, with overall reported crime dropping from 2,076 cases in the first half of 2024 to 1,487 this year, according to the department. Robbery figures decreased by 20%, and the city reported zero homicides, compared to three in the same period of 2024. Motor vehicle thefts declined by 4%, with 68 offenses this year versus 71 previously. Narcotics offenses fell from 194 cases in 2024 to 127 in 2025, representing a 35% reduction. Thefts saw a significant drop of 28%, down from 850 incidents to 612.
