A Summerfield man was arrested for drving under the influence after allegedly passing out drunk outside his job at NAPA Auto Parts with multiple bottles of Jack Daniels.
Dispatchers got a call for service regarding 50-year-old David William McClelland intoxicated and passed out in his vehicle at work around 12:10 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The caller managed NAPA Auto Parts, located at 17380 SE 109th Terrace Rd., Summerfield.
A deputy responded to the auto repair shop and saw a white Chrysler 300 sedan running and occupied by McClelland in the driver’s seat. He smelled overbearingly of alcohol, as did the inside of his vehicle. He also had extremely slow, slurred speech and bloodshot watery eyes, the report said.
Due to this, he was asked to step out of the vehicle and participate in field sobriety exercises. He was slow to get up, and as he tried to walk toward the front of the patrol vehicle, he almost lost his balance. He had to brace against his vehicle to keep from falling, the report said…
