WWII-era explosive device hooked by fisherman in Knoxville, police say

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A fisherman in Knoxville reeled in a surprising catch that prompted police officers to respond to the area on Wednesday.

Knoxville police officers responded to the Sequoyah Hills boat ramp off of Cherokee Boulevard where a fisherman had hooked onto an object roughly 20 feet from the embankment.

It was later determined to be a weathered World War II-era explosive device.
