E-bike ban extended 60 days

It took just 10 minutes for Key Biscayne’s Village Council members to extend the city’s ordinance for the banning of e-bikes and electric scooters another 60 days after it was discovered the current ordinance was set to expire Aug. 30.

Friday afternoon’s Special Meeting, called by Mayor Joe Rasco, resulted in an anticlimactic 6-0 vote to extend a ban that has already been in place for 18 months.

“All that we’re doing today is a procedural motion to (extend) the ban for two months,” said Mayor Rasco, looking at a healthy show of support from residents who came to the Village Chambers for a rare meeting on a weekday afternoon…
