Senior Resource Center in need of volunteer drivers for Home Delivered Meals Program

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Community members interested in an opportunity to give back can now volunteer as a driver for meal delivery service to homebound seniors throughout New Hanover County.

Weekdays, the Senior Resource Center’s Nutrition Program serves more than 700 seniors daily as part of its Home Delivered Meals Program. This program offers eligible New Hanover County homebound residents aged 60 and older support in addressing food insecurity and isolation.

“Our volunteer drivers for the Home Delivered Meals Program play such a key role in the health and well-being of older adults in our community,” said Senior Resource Center Director Amber Smith. “Along with making sure people have access to nutritional meals, these volunteers also get to engage with homebound individuals in the community and provide crucial interaction for social health. If someone is looking for a meaningful and rewarding way to give back to the community, I certainly hope they’ll consider this program.”…
