GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Local Girl Scouts in the Green Bay area worked to build benches on Wednesday for the trail at Red Smith Park.
Six girls from Troop 4536 have been working on this project with Troop leaders and officials say the group was out planting some plants at the trail and noticed that there wasn’t a place to sit, and that’s where the idea for benches came from.

“Girl Scouts gives girls lots of opportunities to do things that they wouldn’t normally do,” began Marian Sauvey, Girl Scout Troop 4536 Leader. “And building benches, I don’t think is something that any of these girls have done before, and it’s just part of the wonderful opportunities the Girl Scouts provides.”
The benches will have a nature theme, and the girls who built them are only 11 years old…
