ST. LOUIS — A gas station brand new to the St. Louis market has taken over a number of local gas stations in a short period of time.
Marathon Petroleum Corp., a refiner based in Ohio, has a presence in 41 of 50 states, but until recently had little to no presence in the St. Louis region. In the course of several months, the brand has taken over a series of gas stations in Missouri and Illinois that had previously operated under a range of other gas station brands.
The first gas station locally to rebrand to a Marathon station appears to have been a former Casey’s gas station at 2517 Washington Ave. in Alton, which closed in February 2024 and rebranded to Marathon that April, the Alton Telegraph reported…
