ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque’s Community Safety Outreach responders helped a family escape a dangerous living situation. A mother and her three young children moved in with a family member to escape a violent relationship. But that family member was an active fentanyl user and became aggressive when confronted about it. The mother had locked her family in a room and called ACS for help.

Responders de-escalated the situation, got the family out of the house, and into a safe house. “We were able to get her to a resource into a safe place, but calls like that, where there’s a mother and three kids going through two very difficult situations, all in the same day, it definitely stays with you,” said Mark Richardson with Albuquerque Community Safety.
