Dump truck overturns, spills dirt across US-70 in Swannanoa after crash

SWANNANOA, N.C. (WLOS) — A crash involving a dump truck and a passenger vehicle led to the truck overturning, spilling dirt across US-70 in Swannanoa on Tuesday, officials said.

The collision, which took place at around 3:39 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, occurred when a dump truck, driven by Norringhton Campbell, tried to make a right turn from Patton Cove Road onto US-70.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the dump truck “failed to reduce speed” for the turn, resulting in a collision with the passenger vehicle, driven by Armando Basulto. Basulto was stopped in the left turn lane facing west when the crash occurred, officials said…
