Amid ICE raids, Ga.-based surveillance firm halts work with feds

ATLANTA, Ga. – One of the nation’s leading operators of automated license-plate reading systems has paused its collaboration with federal agencies.

In explaining the decision, Atlanta-based Flock Safety cited confusion and concern about the purpose of investigations.

A K9 sniffed out some armed teenagers who were hiding in a hole after running from law enforcement, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said.

The company whose cameras are mounted in more than 4,000 communities nationwide – including Augusta – put a hold on pilot programs with the Department of Homeland Security’s Customs and Border Protection and its law enforcement arm, Homeland Security Investigations…
