Meal delivery program serves 680+ students in Southwest Virginia

VIRGINIA (WFXR) – No Kid Hungry Virginia and Feeding Southwest Virginia partnered with Amazon to deliver more than 33,800 summer meals to over 680 students in Southwest Virginia.

Officials say during the school year, approximately 747,000 students in Virginia can access free breakfast and lunch. However, only about 13% of students who rely on school meals can access summer meal programs due to transportation barriers, caregiver work schedules, and the distance to distribution sites.

During July, Amazon says it delivered multi-day meal packages prepared by Feeding Southwest Virginia to the homes of local students across Craig, Russell, and Wythe counties…
