The Lincoln Police Department says officers made nearly 700 traffic stops during a summer speed enforcement project aimed at reducing speed-related dangers.
The campaign ran through June and July, with officers working overtime shifts funded by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
In total, officers issued 835 citations and 182 warnings. That included:
- 402 speeding citations and 20 warnings
- 183 registration citations and 40 warnings
- 60 seatbelt citations and 12 warnings
- 56 insurance citations and 25 warnings
- 23 arrests for driving under suspension
