Southern Decadence parade announces new route to avoid French Quarter construction

The path of the annual Southern Decadence parade, which is set to march on Sunday in the French Quarter, has been changed to dodge an extensive water pipe replacement project blocking Royal Street at St. Peter Street.

The gaudy, 1,200-participant procession will start at the corner of Royal and Barracks streets and head uptown on Royal Street as usual.

But, departing from its original route, the parade will turn right on Orleans Street and left on Dauphine Street…
