OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) – A growing number of shopping centers in Johnson County are taking steps to make parking lots and sidewalks safer for customers.
The owners of several shopping areas in Overland Park and Leawood announced last week that anyone age 17 and under are prohibited from riding e-scooters and e-bikes on the following properties:
- Ranch Mart Shopping Center
- Stanley Square
- Nall Valley Shops
- Village Shops at 135th & Antioch
“Thank you for helping us keep our properties safe and pedestrian-friendly!” Johnson County Management posted on social media.
The Shops of Prairie Village was the first shopping center to ban electric scooters and e-bikes last month. Cornith Square and Cornith Quarter quickly followed with new rules for the popular transportation options.
“For the safety and comfort of all guests, electric scooters and e-bikes are not permitted anywhere on property, including sidewalks, parking lots, and drive lanes. Motorized wheelchairs and similar medical devices are welcome. Thank you for helping us create a welcoming and safe environment for all,” the three shopping centers said in a social media post…
