COHOES, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Cohoes Police announced than an arrest was made this weekend in a sex crime case involving a child. Marcio Martins-Rodrigues, 35, from Brazil, was charged with first and second-degree rape.

Martins-Rodrigues is accused of sexually assaulting a minor in Cohoes younger than 15 years old. Officers took him into custody on August 24, and he was indicted on the felony rape charges on August 27 after the Albany County District Attorney’s Office presented the case to a grand jury.
Cohoes Police stated that according to records from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Martins-Rodrigues was previously deported from the U.S. and is currently in the country illegally. He was held at the Albany County Jail ahead of further proceedings.
