A copper wire thief was to blame for a 911 system failure at a Los Angeles County police department earlier this month, authorities said Thursday.
On Aug. 7 at around 2:30 a.m., the Arcadia Police Department’s communications center went down, preventing 911 calls from being answered. “Redundant measures were immediately implemented to ensure uninterrupted public safety services,” the Police Department stated in its news release.
Investigators later determined that someone had accessed the department’s underground communications lines on the 200 block of Santa Anita Avenue, where they cut and fled with about 60 feet of copper wiring…
