Texas comedian exits ‘SNL,’ citing ‘toxic as hell’ workplace

After just three seasons of performing on Saturday Night Live, a Texas comedian is calling it quits. And working conditions may have been part of it.

Devon Walker, a comedian from Austin, announced on Tuesday in an Instagram post that he was leaving the long-running sketch comedy show. “To me, jobs in this industry feel like a bunch of little marriages. Some of em last for a long time if we’re lucky, but most of them are fleeting. Permanent until they’re not,” Walker wrote in one of the posted slides. “That’s the deal. You know what it is it [sic] when you sign up.”

Of his three years on SNL, Walker said that “sometimes it was really cool” but “sometimes it was toxic as hell.””But we did what we made the most of what it was, even amidst all of the dysfunction,” Walker wrote. “We made a f–ked up lil family.”…
