DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines woman was sentenced to 16 years in federal prison Thursday for distributing fentanyl that led to a death.
Following the overdose death of a Des Moines man in January 2024, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa said 38-year-old Ashley Lynn Andrews was identified as having dealt the fentanyl that killed him.
After authorities conducted multiple controlled buys from Andrews, she was eventually found slumped over the steering wheel of her vehicle on April 12, 2024. Law enforcement found her in possession of 36 grams of fentanyl, a “distribution quantity.”…
