San Antonio store addresses outrage over alleged fitting room cameras

A San Antonio clothing store is denying claims that it has cameras that aim toward its fitting room area, recording customers who enter them. Social media posts about the alleged surveillance circulated this week, sparking concern among some frequent customers.

The recent controversy began after a TikTok user shared in a post on Monday, August 24, that they were shopping at Thrift City when they spotted a camera on the ceiling of the store, which, in the video, appeared to aim at the dressing rooms. Another user named the businesses in the comments, which have now been turned off, suggesting it was the location at 6804 Huebner Road, San Antonio, TX 78238.

“I’m not trying to cancel this store, I’m wanting to highlight that we all need to be aware of our surroundings esp[ecially] in public places,” the TikTok user captioned the post. “Please don’t be ugly to the employees/staff! It’s not their fault and I think the best step to take is asking to put longer doors at the fitting rooms. What do you all think?”…
