DC communities call for action as tensions rise amid ongoing federal presence in neighborhoods

WASHINGTON — Federal agents continue to patrol neighborhoods in the District this week, as a controversial crime-fighting initiative draws increasing concern from community members.

Checkpoints and law enforcement activity have become a common sight in areas like Ward 8, where residents say the show of force is creating fear rather than safety.
