CSPD: 18-year-old arrested, minor taken into custody after detectives pulled stolen vehicle over in Colorado Springs

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Monday, Aug. 25, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) arrested an 18-year-old man on no fewer than five charges after he allegedly stole a car; a minor was also arrested as part of the investigation.

According to CSPD, officers were investigating a stolen green 2017 Subaru Forester, which was taken from the 1900 block of East Lake Boulevard, east of Memorial Park. Upon finding the car, the CSPD Motor Vehicle Theft Unit identified the driver as 18-year-old Carmine Frey, having investigated him previously for multiple car thefts, for which he was arrested.

When detectives tried to pull Frey over, he sped away. Detectives also saw him pull a black mask down over his face to hide his identity, according to a CSPD report. Detectives found Frey again near the intersection of North Circle Drive and Galley Road and detained him without incident…
