COLONIE — A correction officer at the Albany County jail has been accused of beating an inmate.
Sheriff Craig Apple, who has faced recent criticism over conditions and inmate abuse at the jail, disclosed the arrest of 32-year-old Randolph Marks on Thursday morning, the day after he was charged with third-degree assault. The charge is a misdemeanor.
The sheriff said Marks, a local jail officer for the past two years, kicked the inmate in the head “when correction officers were attempting to restrain an incarcerated individual in handcuffs during a brief struggle.” The inmate suffered bruises and swelling, the sheriff said…
