Two Barnes & Nobles stores are opening in South Florida. See dates and details

Barnes & Noble is opening two South Florida stores. The first, across from The Falls shopping complex, comes right after Labor Day.

The bookseller is opening a 15,000-square-foot store in Colonial Palms Plaza, in a space once home to an Old Navy.

The store at 13605 S. Dixie Hwy. sits across from Miller’s Ale House and opens 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, with a snip of the ribbon by Miami-based author and Univision TV producer Luz María Doria. The Barry University communications grad will then sign copies of her latest book, “¿Cuánto te pesa lo que te pasa?” (”How Much Does What Happens Weigh on You?”)

A month later, in October, a new Barnes & Noble opens in the former Forever 21 space at 8525 Mills Dr. at the Palms at Town & Country outdoor mall in Kendall.

That new 20,000-square-foot store replaces the nearby Kendall Village store a mile west that sprawled more than 55,000 square feet of space for nearly 30 years. The Kendall Village store closes on Sept. 24 to make way for a Rooms To Go furniture store…
