According to a post on the City of Knoxville’s official website, this will encompass not just the administrative hubs but also the 311 Center for Service Innovation, home to the 311 and 211 service lines. Residents in need of reporting infrastructure issues, or those seeking access to social services that day, are directed to digital resources – namely the My Knoxville app and an online chatbot.
When it comes to the city’s sanitation services, the Labor Day holiday won’t interrupt the regular collection of residential garbage and recycling – a relief for Knoxville locals, no doubt. Residents should still have their carts curbside by the stated 7 a.m. dispatch time, and downtown services will continue without alteration throughout the weekend. However, the Solid Waste Facility on Elm Street will take a brief hiatus, closing from Saturday, Aug. 30, until it resumes services on Tuesday after the holiday, per the city’s announcement.
While refuse sites shut their doors, Knoxville recycling centers keep theirs open, sans the Goodwill attendant for household goods donations on the holiday itself. The city suggests that donations be left only when attendants are present to receive them.
