New tire rules aim to improve safety, appearance around Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Baton Rouge Metro Council has approved a new tire ordinance to enhance neighborhood safety and improve appearances.

The new measure starts on Sept. 1. It requires tire shops to follow stricter rules for storing and disposing of tires.

District Five Councilman Darryl Hurst said the ordinance responds to complaints from the community. People worry about illegal dumping and unattractive tire piles near businesses.
