Fentanyl found in Oklahoma County Detention Center

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – According to the Oklahoma County Detention Center, a large amount of fentanyl was recently found inside the jail.

Officials say a tip led investigators to do a targeted cell search where they found 39 grams of fentanyl.

“This discovery underscores the dangers fentanyl poses inside the jail and the importance of proactive intelligence gathering,” said Paul Timmons, Interim CEO of the Oklahoma County Detention Center. “Our team acted swiftly to remove a deadly substance from circulation and to protect the safety of staff and detainees. I am proud of the professionalism and dedication our staff demonstrate every day.”

The suspect, Kassandra Escobar, was previously arrested on August 25 on one count of Aggravated Trafficking of Illegal Drugs and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. She is now facing an Aggravated Trafficking charge…
