Lightning strikes spark four fires in Mohawk Valley, homes saved

MARCOLA, Ore. – Lightning strikes ignited four fires in the Mohawk Valley on Wednesday, including one that threatened a residence, said McKenzie Valley Rural Fire District officials.

Fire authorities said that a lightning strike on Aug. 27 set a tree and nearby building ablaze, with the flames quickly spreading. Thanks to crews already in the area, the fire was swiftly managed, saving the home.
