A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through 10 p.m. Wednesday for much of western Nevada and parts of northeast California, as slow-moving thunderstorms bring widespread heavy rain, hail, lightning, and flash flooding.
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued the watch for the Greater Reno–Carson City–Minden area, the Tahoe Basin, northeast California, and Mono, Mineral, and southern Lyon counties. The flash flooding threat is rated at a moderate risk level of 3 out of 5.
“Flash flooding potential peaks during the PM commute when wet thunderstorms are most numerous,” forecasters said. “Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone areas.”…
