Former Chicago attorney sentenced to 30 months in federal prison, fined after being convicted by jury last year

CHICAGO — A former Chicago attorney convicted by a jury last year has been sentenced to more than two years in federal prison for committing tax fraud, attempting to tamper with a witness and violating a court order, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois announced.

Michael Abramson, 76, of Wilmette was sentenced Tuesday to 30 months in federal prison and fined $25,000 by U.S. District Judge Manish S. Shah.

Abramson was convicted by a jury last year in U.S. District Court in Chicago on all 15 tax fraud, witness tampering and violation of court order charges against him.
