World-renowned opera singer is star of new exhibit in her home state of Oklahoma

Surrounded by a lifetime’s worth of globe-trotting photographs, glimmering awards and glamorous gowns, including an elegant Japanese kimono, Leona Mitchell couldn’t help but feel a little overwhelmed.

“It’s astonishing to me, and when I go through and I see the pictures, it brings back so many memories. It puts me right back,” the world-renowned opera singer told The Oklahoman. “It’s like you’re getting your flowers, but I don’t have to be dead. So, how remarkable is this? I’m just so honored.”…
