‘Double Billed’: Firestone fights to keep water flowing past 2028 amid billing dispute

FIRESTONE, Colorado — The Central Weld County Water District has announced it will terminate its water service contract with the Town of Firestone effective Aug. 21, 2028.

Mayor Don Conyac described his initial reaction to the news as one of “bewilderment,” saying he struggled to understand the district’s reasoning behind the decision.
