Las Vegas is set to unveil the new $190 million Civic Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, featuring Mayor Shelley Berkley and Councilwoman Olivia Diaz, scheduled for Sept. 4 at 8:30 a.m. According to the City of Las Vegas Bulletin, the center, which spans an entire city block at 525 S. Main St., is framed by Main Street, Goodman Way, First Street, and Bonneville Avenue — a development poised to be a hub of municipal activity and public celebration.

CORE Construction built the project, while LGA Architecture and BNIM designed it to combine function with style. After the morning ribbon-cutting, media members are invited to tour the site, with parking available on South First Street, north of Bonneville Avenue.
At the center of the Civic Center is Carolyn G. Goodman Plaza, created to honor the city’s history and focus on community. The plaza is designed for festivals and performances. Information about the public art installations can be found on the city’s website. The site will also feature two restaurant spaces and a 2,400-square-foot gallery, set to open in October with a joint exhibit from the city of Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Museum of Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art…
