Adorable baby chicks hatch at the Great Allentown Fair

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Nearly two dozen births are taking place at the Great Allentown Fair this year. Baby chicks are hatching during the fair.

“We’re waiting on a few that didn’t hatch yet. Hopefully tomorrow they’ll start coming out,” said Calvin Lazrus, who oversees the Barnyard Experience.

It gives observers a look at the miracle of life. “It can take up to 24 hours for them to come out, so when the hatching process starts, it’s kind of like an umbilical cord,” said Lazrus. “It puts a hole in the air sack of the egg, the wide part so they can breathe while they’re pecking their way out because they’re crammed in there pretty good.”…
