What to know about the Matthews Alive festival over Labor Day weekend

MATTHEWS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Matthews Alive festival is as strong as ever as a Labor Day weekend tradition.

This weekend, downtown Matthews will again transform into a center of music, food and activities for the four-day event. It brings 100,000 visitors to town annually and over half-a-entry, has contributed $2.1 million to the community. Here is what to expect:

The festival is full of live music

The entertainment begins Friday at 6:30 pm. with the Carolina Barnburners, playing classic rock, dance, soul and beach hits, then the Band of Oz takes the stage for a night of beach music at 8:30 p.m.

The next three days have wall-to-wall entertainment for adults and children alike. It starts Saturday at 11 a.m., with acts including the Nathan Morgan Band, Petty Rewind and the Tina Turner Tribute. The younger crowd will enjoy Corky the magic Clown, Jolly Roger the Pirate and ventriloquist Steve Borgan Saturday through Monday…
