Imprisoned Detroit hitman Vincent Smothers has been charged in an alleged scheme to provide false information to help an inmate convicted of murder get a new trial, the Michigan Attorney General’s Office announced Thursday.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said at a press conference that inmate Shannon Anderson, 46, allegedly recruited Smothers to provide false testimony regarding a 2007 case in which Anderson was convicted of shooting two men at his Eastpointe beauty shop, one fatally. Smothers’ false information was intended to bolster Anderson’s claim of self-defense.
Both Smothers and Anderson now face charges of obstruction of justice…
