Aug. 29, 2025—Michele Bickham, assistant principal at Sampson Elementary School, was named the principal at Rennell Elementary School on Aug. 29. Bickham replaces Dr. Meredith Akers, who was named the director of CFISD virtual pathways on Aug. 1.
Bickham has 23 years of experience in education. She began her career teaching fourth grade at Alief Collins Elementary School in 2001. She then moved to Louisiana, teaching first grade at Rilleux Elementary School and sixth grade at Little Oak Middle School. Bickham returned to Collins Elementary School in 2006 and then moved to Keith Elementary School, where she taught third grade from 2007-2009. Bickham helped open Swenke Elementary School in 2009 teaching third and fourth grade before becoming an instructional specialist at Matzke Elementary School in 2013. Bickham was named to her current role at Sampson in 2020.
