Louisiana Is Positioned To Win

In June 2024, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry signed legislation that aimed to fulfill the state’s approach to economic development and revitalize business investment and job creation. SB 494, better known as the “Positioning Louisiana to Win” bill, modernizes the structure of Louisiana Economic Development so it can better attract new business and more effectively support the companies already in the state.

The legislation established a private sector-led board charged with developing an economic development strategic plan and advising on policies, programs and initiatives that promote economic growth in the state.

Supported by SB 494, Louisiana saw 183 active projects as of December 2024. These projects created more than 32,220 potential new jobs, 18,000 retained jobs, and more than $87.6 billion in potential capital expenditures. In total, Louisiana finished the year with $16.1 billion in capital investment, with over 9,000 newly created jobs and around 4,000 jobs retained.
