Family means everything to James McCray, who insisted his entire family of 20 stick together when they were evacuated to Texas 20 years ago during Hurricane Katrina.

Even before knowing about the McCray family, Sue Sandford, now 56, was looking at her five-bedroom home in Dallas to see what she could do. The volunteer relief worker and single mom tells PEOPLE she calculated she could move her four young children into her bedroom and have enough room to take in about 20 evacuees.
