DERBY, Kan. (KSNW) – There was a mix of confusion, frustration, and anger at Derby’s Field Station: Dinosaurs following a recent burglary. Staff did their best to put on a happy face for visitors, but now they’re reaching out to the public for answers and help after multiple items were stolen from an educational exhibit.
“If these items are returned safely so that they can get back to this exhibit, they’re really no questions asked. But unfortunately, if for some reason we were to find these items and find the individual responsible, we would have no choice but to act as a business,” said park manager Garion Masterson.
Multiple fossils, a piece of meteorite, and an authentic Native American doll were stolen from the hands-on exhibit earlier this week. The items had been on display in an unlocked building since 2019, and there had been no reported thefts at the park until now.
