The heaviest of the rain is now gone. Area streams, creeks and rivers will remain swollen as a healthy, widespread inch to more than 4 inches of rain fell in parts of Kansas over the last 24 hours.
Any remaining showers should wane over central and eastern Kansas by early evening at the latest. There will be another small batch of showers and storms that favors eastern Colorado into tonight but may skim the state line tracking to the south into Friday morning.
Overnight lows will fall to the 50s and 60s.
Afternoon highs on Friday will be unseasonably cool in the 70s with a few 80s near the Colorado state line.
The next round of rain develops Friday evening over Southwest Nebraska and parts of Western Kansas.
A Marginal Risk is outlined mostly for Colorado but extends into our viewing area to the northwest with a touch more instability to engage these storms.
Overnight, this activity fizzles and struggles to push into our central counties by Saturday morning.
The next round Saturday evening in the west looks more robust. Some storms could be strong to severe, containing hail and damaging winds.
This could survive as much weaker showers into Sunday morning for locations within our central and eastern counties.
Highs this weekend dominate the 70s across the Sunflower State.
A few more showers and storms may form on Labor Day into next Tuesday in the east, although a better and more widespread chance comes with a potent cold front on Wednesday. This boundary clears us out and resets temps. Highs early next week start in the upper 70s to the 80s and fall behind the cold front to the 70s Wednesday through Friday.
