“Waking up in a hotel room with my boyfriend dead of an overdose in the bed next to me, friends dying, friends overdosing in bathrooms and not having anything to revive them with. The Department of Health and Hawaii Health and Harm Reduction Center (HHHRC) helped pass the Good Samaritan Law and helped pass the Narcan Bill into law. Those are the two capstones of overdose awareness and prevention. It’s a lot better than in used to be, but we still have a long way to go,” according to Paij-Britt Nakamura of Honolulu.
