A woman was killed early Aug. 30 in a single-vehicle crash on State Route 44 in Ravenna Township, between Lake Rockwell and Dawley roads.
The collision marked a grim start to the Labor Day weekend, and a grim end to the month, which saw a half dozen people killed in crashes on Portage County’s roadways.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a press release that a gray 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe was driving south on State Route 44 and drove left of the center line and off the left side of the roadway. Once off the road, the vehicle struck a mailbox, drove into a deep ditch, and struck a culvert.
