Arvin Man and Alleged Gang Member Indicted for Firearm Possession as a Felon

A federal grand jury has indicted Arvin man Isaac Rodriguez, 26, on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Rodriguez, an alleged member of the Arvina 13 gang, is facing these charges due to a history of felony offenses that legally bar him from firearm possession.

As stated in court documents, law enforcement found Rodriguez with a firearm following his arrest on probation violation warrants. His criminal record includes convictions for auto theft, evading arrest, and a previous charge for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Assistant U.S. Attorney Luke Baty is handling the prosecution for this case, which stems from collaborative investigative efforts by Kern County’s sheriff and district attorney’s offices, together with federal agencies including the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

If found guilty of the current charges, the maximum sentence Rodriguez could face is up to 15 years in federal prison, complemented by a fine of up to $250,000. However, any imposed sentence will be at the discretion of the presiding judge and will take into account various factors, such as legal guidelines and the defendant’s prior history.
