TALLMADGE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 30, 2025) – One of four persons who were hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash west of Standale on Wednesday evening has lost his life.
No names have been disclosed by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Shane Ryke following the incident that occurred around 5:30 PM on Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) at 8th Avenue. A westbound pickup truck slammed into an eastbound SUV that was attempting to turn left.
Rescue workers had to extricate an 82-year-old Allendale man who was an unconscious passenger in the SUV, and he was taken to Corewell-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment of life-threatening injuries. On Thursday evening, Ryke said that this person succumbed to his injuries at that medical facility. The other three persons involved – a 79-year-old Allendale woman driving the SUV, along with a 21-year-old West Olive man piloting the pickup truck, and his 19-year-old female passenger from Grand Haven – went to Trinity Health Grand Rapids for treatment…
