Winston-Salem/Forsyth schools declare Sept. 15 as staff planning day amid budget crisis

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Amid ongoing budget challenges, the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Board of Education has designated Friday, Sept. 15, as a district transition day and no students will attend school.

The day will serve as an RT (reserve) day for teachers and other district staff, the district said.

Principals requested the transition day to allow staff to plan for student transitions, review individualized education programs, collaborate on co-teaching models, and make adjustments following the district’s recent reduction in force…
